1. Who we are and why we collect personal data

This Privacy Policy explains how Koreo Labs LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, process and uses your personal data when you visit or make a purchase on our website www.koreolabs.ch (the “website”) in accordance with Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection.

By visiting our website, you agree to the collection and processing of your personal data. The collection and processing of personal data allow amongst other the performance of contracts (e.g. processing and sending you purchase), improve your shopping experience and the services we provide, optimize the website's functionalities. We may also use this information to communicate with you.

2. What personal data do we collect 

When accessing our website, we may collect following categories of personal data: 

  • Order and account data, such as name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, order details (products, price, time), account login details if you create an account.  
  • Payment information, such as payment method, transaction ID, payment status; full payment details (e.g. complete card numbers) are processed directly by our payment providers. These data are not stored by us.
  • Communication data, such as messages you send via email (or other communication methods), e-mail, social channels, as well as internal notes we can create to handle your request.  
  • Marketing data, such as newsletter subscriptions, email engagement, marketing preferences, participation in promotions or surveys.  
  • Technical and usage data, such as IP address, device and browser type, operating system, language settings, referrer URL, pages visited, time and duration of visit, interactions with page elements; this data is collected via cookies, pixels, and similar technologies and may vary depending of the devices you use and the setting you apply.
    The collection of such data allows you to identify technical issues and improve user experience while login information we collect will track how you use our website. 
  • Social media data if you interact with us via social media platforms (such as for example Instagram by visiting our pages or using “share” or “like” buttons), the platforms may share information with us according to their own privacy policies.

3. How do we collect your data

Your data is collected either:

  • When you disclose your personal information directly to us, for example, when signing up for an account, making a purchase, or signing up to our newsletters. We may also gain access to such information if you contact us directly via email, phone, or equivalent. 
  • Through cookies, when you use our website. A cookie is a small amount of information that’s downloaded to your computer or device when you visit certain websites. Shopify, who is hosting our e-commerce website, uses a number of different cookies, including strictly necessary, performance, advertising, and social media or content cookies. Cookies make your browsing experience better by allowing the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login and region selection).   • For the use of third-party services, where we may also get access to your personal data through third-party services providers, such as Shopify, who is hosting our website, Payment services (credit and debit card providers, ApplePay, Twint, etc.) as well as online web analytics tools.

4. How do we process and use your data

We collect and process your data to operate this website, process your orders, improve the quality of our services by enhancing your shopping experience, and keep you informed of our commercial offering. Your data is collected and used to process your orders, in particular:

  • To operate our online shop, create and manage your customer account, process orders, handle payments, and deliver products;
  • To provide customer service, answer questions, manage returns and exchanges, handle warranty cases and complaints;
  • To interact with you, for example to respond to your requests, share with you information relating to our commercial offering or promotions;
  • To send you marketing communications, such as newsletters, product updates, special offers, and general information about Koreo Labs. 
  • To comply with legal duties such as accounting, tax, commercial law requirements, and other regulatory duties.

We may use your data for web and online analytics to analyze your activity on our website. Such analytics may be used for marketing purposes, to improve or optimize the user experience of our website or ensure security.

We only process personal data to the extent necessary and in line with the principles of proportionality and purpose limitation.

5. Legal basis for processing your personal data

Where required by applicable law, we base our processing on

  • the performance of a contract with you or steps taken at your request before entering a contract (e.g. processing your order);
  • our legitimate interests in operating and improving our business, securing our systems, and communicating with customers;
  • your consent, for example for sending newsletters or using certain analytics/marketing cookies;
  • legal obligations, for example, retention duties under tax and commercial law.
  • Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future (e.g. by clicking the unsubscribe link in a newsletter or adjusting cookie settings).

6. Who receives your data

We may disclose your personal data to the following categories of recipients, which depends on the services you use with us:

Website provider (Shopify): to host our e-commerce store (website), provide technical infrastructure, support order processing and provide access to various website analytics;

  • Payment service providers of your choice at check-out to process payments securely; these providers are independent from Koreo Labs and will process your data in accordance with their own privacy policies: 
  • Logistics and shipping partners, such as Swiss Post (Swiss Post Privacy Policy.) for shipping and handling returns;
  • Email and marketing tools, such as Shopify Email (Shopify Privacy Policy ) to send transactional emails (order confirmations, password resets) and marketing communications or Infomaniak when sending emails directly to Koreo Labs;
  • Advertising and marketing partners, such as Shopify and other advertising platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram (Meta Privacy Policy ) or Google (Google Privacy Policy), that we may use from time to time;
  • Analytics and tracking providers, such as Google Analytics (Google Privacy Policy), that we may use from time to time to understand usage and the effectiveness of our marketing.
  • IT providers: hosting, backup, customer service, accounting and administrative services;
  • Professional advisers and authorities, such as accountants, tax advisers, auditors, legal counsel, public authorities where we are legally required or entitled to share data or in connection with business transactions (mergers and acquisitions).
  • We only process personal data to the extent necessary and in line with the principles of proportionality.

7. International data transfers

Some of the service providers named above may be located in or process personal data in countries outside Switzerland.

Such countries may not provide the same level of data protection as Switzerland. 

If you do not agree that your data is being shared outside of Switzerland, then you should not be using this website. 

8 How long do we keep your data

We store personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above or as required by law

  • Order and accounting: at least 10 years after the end of the financial year, to comply with commercial and tax retention duties.  
  • Customer account: In principle, your data is retained as long as you do not request your account to be deleted. In such situation, we might still have, under Swiss law, the duty to retain certain data even after your account is deleted.
  • Advertising: you will continue receiving promotional materials and other company information until you unsubscribe or object to receiving such communication. Once you unsubscribe, we might need a short period to implement your request.
  • Technical and analytics for as long as needed for the analysis and security purposes described; specific retention periods may depend on the tools used (see our Cookie Policy or the providers’ policies).

9. Newsletters and marketing communications

If you subscribe to our newsletter or consent to receive advertising, we use your email address and, where applicable, your name to send you information about our products, offers, and news.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us at hello@koreolabs.ch.

10. Social media and third-party links

Our Site may contain links to third-party websites and services (e.g. Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, payment provider sites).

We are not responsible for how these third parties handle personal data; their own privacy policies apply to your use of their services.

11. Your rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), you have the following rights in relation to your personal data: the right to access, correct and delete your personal data. You are also entitled, at any time, to access your account, amend your personal information, request the closure of your account, or unsubscribe to our marketing communications.

Our Site is only directed towards physical persons who have reached the age of majority or have obtained the consent of their legal representatives to use this website.
